hantry Quarter Horses started 15 years ago when Ingrid Sofrin bought
her first Quarter Horse after some years of keeping other breeds.
From then on it was Quarter Horses all the way, and a number have
been bred on the premises and many more have passed through to
new homes. Although the operation has been scaled down to just
a few horses, those there now are the pick of the crop.
More recently,
they have been joined by two horses owned by friends who keep
them at livery with us. They are Flo, owned by Becky Hissey, and
Jazz, owned by Nikki Cox. The yard is suddenly a much busier place
and it's great fun to have so much going on up there. We all help each other
and keep an eye on each other's horses during the holidays.

The yard, near the market town of Frome and 25 miles
south of Bristol, has hosted numerous Western riding clinics run
by visiting trainers where riders of all types and abilities have
brought their own horses along and learnt the basics of Western
riding.
Some have gone on to buy Quarter Horses and convert completely
to Western, but for most the methods are a refreshing break from
traditional English instruction and consistently prove useful in
helping to relax and train all sorts of horses for dressage, eventing
or just hacking out with more control and less tension. |
