was a display of natural horsemanship in our yard at Chantry
Quarter Horses on Sunday, July 30, 2006 by Shari Penegar.
She brought her Arab stallion White Tail to demonstrate
the extraordinary rapport the two have built up over many years.
Shari is skilled at teaching others to train
their horses using natural horsemanship techniques and native Indian
methods. Last summer she left the tepee and log cabin in the New
Forest that has been her base for several years, and came with
a group of friends and horses to Manor Farm at Lower Godney near
Wells.
Her
career with horses started along more traditional English lines
within the structure of the British Horse Society, where she qualified
as an assistant instructor. Then she saw a demonstration by the
American trainer Pat Parelli that was to completely alter her working
methods and change her life.
The event raised £500 for the extensive new bridlepath that
recently opened between Whatley and Great Elm at a cost
of around £15,000.
